About Elan PR

Classic, Automotive and Motorsport PR expertise

Elan PR was created by Nick Bailey purely to help classic, automotive and motorsport companies to promote their brand, products and services to trade and consumer audiences.

Meet Nick

Nick Bailey

Nick Bailey

Director

After working for a number of tier-one suppliers in areas ranging from quality, manufacturing and engineering through to concept car technologies, Nick brings to PR that real-world automotive experience often lacking in even the most respected agencies. Classic and sports cars have been a constant; a stream of Caterham 7s, MGs and a box of bits Lotus Elan have filled the garage and emptied the bank.

From an early age, Nick has been involved in many forms of motorsport; acquiring a knowledge that extends from short circuit through to the highest levels of professional motorsport. From watching Tuesday night testing at Aintree, through banger racing in chalk pits, ‘bouncing’ in production car trials to working with teams at Pikes Peak and the Indy 500, Nick has an experience of motorsport that genuinely covers the entire spectrum of the sport.

Meet Mel

Mel Wicks

Mel Wicks

With a passion for language and writing driving her career in PR and communications, Mel has a fast-paced agency background, specialising in the automotive and motorsport industries but with the flexibility and tenacity to turn her hand to a range of sectors, including retail, engineering, luxury goods, public sector and the glamorous world of waste management! Nothing gets Mel going quite like finding a ‘hook’ and generating journalist interest to push what may be a niche subject out to a lifestyle audience.

Despite being a ‘late starter’ in racing circles, she’s supported clients in short track racing, single seaters, touring and sports cars, as well automotive OEMS and tier one suppliers.

Meet Ruth

Ruth Harrison-Davies

Ruth Harrison-Davies

Having spent many a weekend at racetracks as a child, Ruth has been around cars and motorbikes for as long as she can remember — and enjoys exploring the Yorkshire countryside with her husband in their 1989 Ford Sierra Sapphire Cosworth. With a love for all-things-automotive, be it on two wheels or four, Ruth cut her teeth in the sector with Ginetta, looking after PR and marketing for the brand’s numerous car launches, championships, and in-house race team – including its debut in the Le Mans 24 Hours in the LMP1 class.

While her passion for motoring brought her to Elan PR, Ruth is particularly interested in harnessing the power of strategic communications to help brands achieve their wider corporate ambitions. Having worked across a range of complex B2B sectors – including architecture, construction, manufacturing, and engineering – Ruth enjoys developing messaging and building public profiles which drive stories, entice talent, attract investment, and position brands for growth.

Meet Bill

Bill Robinson

Bill Robinson

Bill admits the driving force in his life is his passion for cars and motorsport. From watching repeats of Top Gear as a child, to attending the British Grand Prix as a teen, to dedicating his university dissertation to cars and racing, Bill has found a way to include his love of cars into nearly every aspect of his life.

With a BA in Digital Production, Bill also has knowledge of a range of creative software and equipment, such as cameras, lighting and sound. A love of photography keeps these skills honed, and his creative eye has also made him an asset to Elan’s clients and their social media accounts.

Meet Thea

Thea King

Thea King

Rather than the four-wheeled kind, Thea’s most memorable rides were that of the four-legged... Having worked at a safari lodge in Africa and experiencing leopard charges, venomous snakes in the office and angry elephant bulls in musth first-hand, there is little that truly terrifies her now - except maybe a terribly formatted spreadsheet.

Her enthusiasm for organisation and eye for detail as well as her knowledge of European languages are a true asset to the company, and growing up between the mountains of Switzerland and the Himalayas means Thea is well equipped to overcome any rocky terrain that comes her way... metaphorical or otherwise.
